If facility owners are experiencing trouble retaining tenants, the root of the matter is probably because of poor facility management. Obviously, facility management is an aspect of real estate management that involves requirements that tenants look into and those that facility managers and owners should comply or provide to ensure a long-term lease relationship with tenants.

Facility management requires some preventive and scheduled maintenance and prompt repair assistance. The building owner, if the need arises, must be ready to agree on some renovation or remodelling work inside the building to meet the requirements of the tenants.

It is important for a facility manager to be fully aware that there are other areas of responsibility in real estate management, which are interdependent with facility management. Thus, any failure in maintaining the facility for example has a ripple effect on the marketing and financial areas as well as occupancy and tenancy.
